Ruth's Story

Ruth Neighbors, a former Woodward resident, died, May 10, 2018 in Oklahoma City. A memorial service will be held at 11:00a.m. Friday, June 8, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Woodward. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Ruth Elizabeth (Campbell) Neighbors was born February 25, 1921 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Stanley Orth & Nora Mae (Poage) Campbell. After graduating from Enid Business College; she was united in marriage to James Franklin Neighbors on November 15, 1941. During World War II, while "Jim", served in the US Navy, Ruth worked for Goetzinger Abstract. Later, she worked for Montgomery Ward in Woodward until she began working as secretary of the First Baptist Church of Woodward until she retired

She is survived by: daughters, Sandra Huffman, Oklahoma City & Cheryl Franklin; Enid; brothers: Gerald Campbell, Billy & wife Betty Campbell, Charles Campbell, one sister; Marilyn Wickham & husband William; brother-in-law Earl Webb; sister-in-law, Cleo Campbell: 5 grandchildren: 6 great-grandchildren: 1 great-great-grandson; nieces, nephews, & cousins friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son James Don Neighbors; a brother Donald Campbell; sisters Thelma Webb & baby Eleanor Campbell; & sister-in-law Phyllis Campbell.
