Richard Hasten, 71 year old Woodward resident, died Saturday, April 23, 2016 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, April 29, 2016 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ed Dowty officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie View Cemetery.

Richard Niles Hasten was born on May 2, 1944 in Wichita Falls, Texas; the son of Niles Dupree and Martha Ellen (Jones) Hasten. Richard spent his childhood in Windthorst, Texas and the surrounding area, attending school in Windthorst. Richard was united in marriage to Joyce LaVonne Clark on September 9, 1965 in Arnett, Oklahoma. Richard and Joyce made their home in Shattuck and soon after they moved to Woodward. Richard spent his working career in the Oilfield, spending time as an escort driver for Phillips and Sons. He was also a truck driver for Trinidad Drilling and Cheyenne Drilling, as well as several other companies.

Richard enjoyed fishing, camping, and going to the casino, cooking on the grill, but his true joy was spending time with his family.

Richard is survived by his wife Joyce of the home; two daughters, Angela Branson and husband Roy; Tammy VanderMey and husband James; two sons, Ronnie Hasten and wife Shannon; Michael Hasten and wife Sarah all of Woodward; six grandchildren, Derek Branson; Sheyla Clevenger; Mea Elton; Trey VanderMey; Kaleb VanderMey; Kaylee Hasten; eight great-grandchildren, Kenton Powless; Ashlei Branson; Kason Clevenger; Tyson Elton; Kadyn Clevenger; Tayleigh Branson; Maxton Branson; and Paetyn Elton; one sister, Ola Mae Theurer of Wichita Falls, Texas; other family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a very special step-mother, Maggie Hasten.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Cancer Research with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
