Blessed with many friends, adored by her family, and cherished by her boys, Riann Lynn Jividen Gibbs was unexpectedly taken from her loved ones August 25, 2017 in Oklahoma City.
The youngest of three golden-haired, beautiful daughters of Roger and Sherry Jividen, Riann was born May 19, 1983 in Woodward, Oklahoma. From the moment of her birth until the day she passed, Riann was famous for her magnetic smile and her contagious, irresistible laugh. Growing up in Woodward, Riann enjoyed the many benefits of small town life, riding her bike around the neighborhood with friends, tagging along with her older sisters, and playing basketball with a talented group of girls. Riann attended Cedar Heights Elementary School, and later, as a student athlete at Woodward High School, she set high, seemingly unreachable goals for herself. Riann was fiercely competitive and was dedicated to being the best basketball player and teammate she could possibly be. By the time she graduated in 2002, Rianns commitment paid off as she captured not one, but three basketball state championships with an inspirational coach and a team of young women with whom she would remain lifelong friends.
Riann shared an active, adventurous, and busy life with her family, friends, and colleagues. She loved her job as a supervisor at Mercy Hospital, where she made many friends and was respected by her coworkers, but family was the most important thing in Rianns life. She adored and doted on her nieces and nephews, and she cherished time spent with them. It was not unusual to find Riann at sporting events, playing games at family gatherings, or relaxing at the lake or by the pool-always surrounded by those she loved. She took her job as being the fun aunt very seriously, and she shared an incredible bond with her sisters, Allison and Kristen. Riann stayed close with her parents by Facetiming them every day and never turned down the opportunity to go shopping with her mom. She celebrated the little things in life and loved traditions like pumpkin carving, girls nights, and road trips.
In 2013, Riann met Matt Gibbs, and she was forever changed. Together, Riann and Matt built a life and love that others would envy. They enjoyed many date nights together with stops at food trucks, games at Top Golf, eating at Red Lobster for Matts birthday (but only on Matts birthday because Riann did not life seafood!), and cruising in Ole Red. They shared unforgettable memories on vacations and before long, they made the decision to add a little furry bundle of joy to their lives, an energetic and ornery Australian Shepherd named Sampson. March 5, 2016, Matt and Riann were united in marriage. With their best friends Michele Morel and Scott Hudson standing up for them, James Bailey led them in their vows. They celebrated their love surrounded by many friends and family. The newlyweds honeymooned in Mexico where they got fish pedicures and enjoyed the beach. Shortly after, they sold their condo for a house and Riann proudly announced that they were ready to make Sampson a big brother! It was time to put together a nursery and prepare for a family of four.
Riann became a mother to an adorable baby boy, Mason Cooper Gibbs on April 11, 2017. With newborn Mason and Matt by her side and a tail-wagging Samson excitedly waiting at home, Riann proudly told others that her world was complete. She embraced motherhood, adored her sons precious smile, and cherished every single moment she had with her boys.
Riann was greeted in Heaven by her grandparents: Hubert and Bert Jividen, George W. Long Jr., and Nona Faye Woods and her Uncle Tracy Jividen; Matts grandparents, Howard Henry Nelson and Alta Loofier.
Remaining behind to celebrate Rianns life are her husband Matt Gibbs and her precious baby boy Mason Gibbs; parents, Roger and Sherry Jividen and sisters, Allison Romine-Jividen and Kristen Watson and husband David; nieces and nephews: Britney and Aaron Schwarz, Garrett Jividen, Kelsie Watson, John Michael Romine, Kennedi Watson, Kortney Watson, Eric Dudik; sister-in-law, Megan Gibbs; in-laws, Chris and Amy Gibbs and Michele Cooper; grandfather-in-law, Dan Henry Gibbs; grandmother-in-law, Jan Manning; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
Rianns family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Rianns dear friend Kayla Hill for being a wonderful caregiver to Mason when Riann had to be at work. Riann was extremely grateful to have a trusted friend to watch over Mason for her. Knowing he was with you when she could not be there gave her heart great comfort.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mason Gibbs Education Fund with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
There will be a receiving of friends and family on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Billings Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the Woodward Church of Christ with James Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.
