Raymond's Story

Raymond J. Leatherman, Jr. died Tuesday, December 19, 2017 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, December 28, 2017 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Gene Karn officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the United States Army. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Raymond James Leatherman, Jr. was born on June 22, 1942 in Perryton, Texas; he was the son of Raymond James, Sr. and Cleta Martha (Walker) Leatherman. Raymond grew up in Perryton, attended school there and graduated from Perryton High School. He was inducted into the United States Army on March 4, 1964. Raymond served his country during the Vietnam War. He was Honorably Discharged on February 26, 1966. He was united in marriage to Linda Darlene Chamble on February 3, 1968 in Perryton. Raymond and Linda made their home in Perryton. Raymond worked for Baker and Taylor for seven years before working for Unit Drilling for the next 23 years. He and Linda lived in various places before moving to Woodward 1996.

Raymond loved his family he enjoyed camping, and traveling with Arley and Carol Hutchison.

He is survived by his wife Linda of the home; one son, Raymond J. Leatherman, III and his wife Sarah of Woodward; six grandchildren, Angila; Cody; Shelby; Noah; Destyne; and Patrick; five great grandchildren, Lexie; Kaliana; Jayla; Mia and Stefhon; two sister, Deloris Stafford of Shattuck; Sherriell Bushman of Perryton, Texas; other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Ronnie.
