Priscilla V. Mead
Priscilla V. (Hunt) Mead was born on March 21, 1924 in Randlett, Oklahoma in Cotton County; the daughter of James I. and Lillian (Riney) Hunt. As a child, she attended country school in Taylor, Oklahoma. She later graduated high school in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. In April of 1947, Priscilla met Dale Mead at the Old Settlers Reunion Drug Store in Cheyenne where they both were employed. Shortly after they were united in marriage on June 1, 1947 in Ashland, Kansas. After being married, they moved to Sharon, Oklahoma until 1970 when they moved to Woodward.
Priscilla and Dale were blessed with a daughter, Valeria Ann, on March 22, 1950. In 1952, Priscilla, Dale, and Valeria were baptized at the Sharon First United Methodist Church. Priscilla, throughout her life, worked several jobs. She also worked for June Ruttman in her home decorating shop, Star Model as a seamstress, and had the pleasure of being a care giver for a couple of elderly ladies.
Above all, Priscilla enjoyed being with her family and friends. She delighted in her time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is affectionately referred to as Meme. She especially enjoyed cooking and sewing until her eye sight failed several years ago. Fortunately she was able to pass these talents on to her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984, her daughter Nancy Jean who she lost at birth in 1954, her parents, her parents-in-law, Carl and Bertha Mead, her brother James Hunt II and wife Patricia, her brother Billy Wayne, brother, Oval Spec, nephew James Hunt III, and her in-laws, Burton and Betty Mead, Roy Mead, Stan Mead, and Tom Mead.
Priscilla is survived by her daughter, Valeria Nelson and husband Owen of Woodward; grandson, Ken Nelson and wife Candace and their two daughters, Maelynn and Morgan of Yukon; grandson, Lee Nelson and wife Rachel and their two sons, Jude and Oliver of Woodward; sister, Jewrell Crall of Weatherford; sister-in-law, Novell Hunt of Olney, Texas; sisters-in-law, Lenora Mead; Jeri Hoxsey both of Woodward; numerous nephews; nieces; and friends.
