Mary's Story

Mary Louella Lane, age 83, passed from this life on July 8, 2016, surrounded by her family at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado.
She was born March 22, 1933 in Woodward, Oklahoma to the late Waldo Dee and Gladys Helen (Fothergill) Carter.
On November 26, 1952 she married Clifford Raymond Lane of Woodward and to this union were born three children, Cynthia, Mark and Paul. Lou and Cliff shared a life of enduring love. Lou made many homes for her family, supporting Cliff in his United States Air Force career and then as they embarked on their civilian life.
They settled in Denver in 1968 and Lou began a career at Cahners Publishing and then joined the US Department of Agriculture where she worked until retirement. She loved both jobs and enjoyed many years of friendships with her co-workers.
Lou was an avid reader and always enjoyed sharing her reading discoveries with her family. She was a beautiful seamstress and a wonderful home keeper; a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be forever missed by her family and friends who will remain eternally grateful for her legacy of love and grace and cherished memories.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son Paul and by her brothers, Jacob and Duane.
She leaves behind her husband, Clifford of Denver, Paul and Cynthia Soucy of Boxford, Massachusetts, Mark and Barbara (Blunk)Lane of Denver, grandchildren Catherine Soucy of Denver, Andrew Soucy of Boston, Massachusetts, and Emily and Abigail Lane of Denver, her sister Shirley Schott of Northglenn, Colorado and many nieces, nephews and cousins who will hold her memory dear.
He services were private per her wishes.
