Lou's Story

Lou (McLain) Mote Gossett, 83, of Yuba City, Caif., went to be with the Lord in the afternoon of October 3, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born July 23, 1932 in Moreland, Oklahoma, to Preston and Hazel (Starbuck) McLain. Willa was married to George Truett Mote in 1950, and soon after moved to California, eventually settling in Yuba City where Willa spent the last 58 years of her life. Truett passed away on June 12, 1970. Willa later met Bruce Gossett and two families were joined. Willa was an avid reader, especially her bible every morning. She had a sharp memory for all her family's birthdays, anniversaries and special moments. She had a quiet strength and remained incredibly positive throughout her life. She was precious gift to all those who knew her, leaving a legacy of faith in God. Willa was preceded in death by Truett Mote and stepson David Gossett. Willa is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Bruce Gossett and her children Dale (Karen) Mote, Virginia "Ginny" (Tom) Mote Poole, Paul (Deana) Mote, Janette (Alan) Mote Johnson, and step-daughter Bennie (Ben) Gossett Whipple, and a wonderfully long list of grandchildren and great grandchildren and brother Walter (Mary) McLain of Phoenix, Az, Kieth (Evelyn) McLain, of Fairview, Ok., Sisters Fern Qualls of Oklahoma City, Ok., Ruth (Allen) Fields of Levelland, Tx. Barbara Cardiff and sister-in-law Deanna McLain of Woodward, who loved her dearly. A viewing will be held at Lakeside Colonial Chapel on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 8:30-10:00 am. A graveside service will be held at the Sutter Cemetery in Sutter, California on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 12 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Willa's name to the American Heart Association , Donations Processing Center, 1710 Gilbreth Road Burlingame, CA 94010-1795 or to ResQPaws, 865 Colusa Ave, Yuba City, CA 95991.
