Lola Mae Stevens

Lola Mae Stevens, 94 year old resident of Woodward, Oklahoma, died on Saturday, March 9, 2019 in Woodward, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be Friday, March 15, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Woodward with the Reverend Shannon Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Lola Mae (Poindexter) Stevens was born on August 10, 1924 in Oplin, Texas. She was the youngest child of Will Poindexter and Amelia (Johnson) Poindexter. Lola was reared in Oplin and graduated from Oplin High School. She married William (Bill) Stevens on December 19, 1948, in Canadian, Texas. Bill brought his young son, Dale, to the marriage and Lola loved him as the dear son he was. Later, two daughters were born, Ronda Lynn and Marsha Lee. Bill was a carpenter and Lola followed him to many towns, finally settling in Aztec and Navajo Dam, New Mexico, where the girls attended and finished high school. They then relocated to Shattuck, Oklahoma to help care for Bill's father. After Bill's death in 1997, Lola moved to Woodward to be closer to the girls. Lola worked as a bookkeeper, sales clerk and as a volunteer with the Woodward Hospital Auxiliary. She also volunteered with the Woodward Senior Center dance committee for many years.

Lola loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. Her nieces and nephews all held a special place in her heart too. She remained close to many of them until she died. She "adopted" the Barth Family as her own and was very close to them. They treated her with love and respect for many years.

Left to celebrate her life are the following: Her son, Dale Stevens and his wife Dee; her daughter, Ronda Jones and her husband Bob; her daughter Marsha Holloway and her husband, Mark; grandchildren, Scott Mosley, Michelle Sandoval, Glenn Jones and his wife Socorro, Angela Marriott and her husband Mitch, Anna Cole and her husband, Michael, Nathan Holloway and his wife Caroline, Grant Holloway and Jason Hubbard. She was blessed with ten great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, the Barth Family and special friends, Donna Hunter and Melissa and Phil Pfeifer.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Will and Amelia Poindexter; her brothers, Tom Poindexter, Calvin Poindexter, W.J. Poindexter, and Henry Poindexter; and sisters, Marietta Fowler, Julia Kent, Libby Gorman, Edith Hager, and Bobbie Betzen; and granddaughter, Lacy Rae Holloway; and her beloved husband, Bill Stevens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Circle of Care of Woodward Group Home or the Faith Hospice with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
