Leveta's Story

Leveta Dotterer, 89 year old Woodward resident, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017 surrounded by her family at the Grace Living Center in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 4, 2018 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bill Moore and Reverend Scott Hofen officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Alva Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Leveta Eldena (Hofen) Dotterer was born September 14, 1928 to Everett William Hofen and Alta Marie (Prigmore) Hofen. Leveta grew up in the country near Dacoma, Oklahoma and graduated from Dacoma High School. She married Nathan Earl Dotterer on August 1, 1948 at a rural church near Dacoma. They made their first home in Alva, Oklahoma and she and Earl raised their family there until they moved to Woodward, Oklahoma in 1978.

Leveta worked for a dentist, Dr. Hall and in 1956 went to work for Central National Bank in Alva until 1978 when the family moved to Woodward, Oklahoma. She then went to work for Woodward Savings and Loan, Homestead Savings and Loan and Mid First Bank, retiring in 1994.

Leveta attended the Baptist, Methodist and Lutheran Churches. She loved sports, traveling and spending time with her family. Leveta had a green thumb and always had beautiful vegetable and flower gardens.

She spent her later years from 2009 until the time of her passing, volunteering at Grace Living Center. She became a resident at Grace in 2015 but continued taking care of the plants and flowers inside and outside in the courtyard. She didn't believe in sitting idle and loved staying busy and helping others in any way she could.

Leveta is survived by one daughter, Nancy Greeff and husband Tim of Woodward; three grandchildren, Michael Dotterer of Alva, Derek Kastelic and wife Hope of Woodward and Jenah Kastelic and boyfriend Pat Debus of Oklahoma City; great-grandchildren, Eathan, Jasmine and Jacob Dotterer, Natasha Faucett, Abe and Elliette Kastelic; great-great-grandchildren, Addison, Brooklyn, Katelyn and Oliver; sisters: Geneva Moore, Elma Melton and husband Jim, Alvina Murray, Evelyn Kramp, Everetta Hall, Josephine Ricks, Alfreda Reynolds and husband J.D.; brothers: Henry Hofen, Max Hofen and wife Linda; sister-in-law, Jeanne Hofen; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan "Earl" Dotterer, son, Daniel William Dotterer, parents, Everett William and Alta Marie Hofen, brother Everett William Hofen, Jr.; brothers-in-law: Carrol Moore, Willis Kramp, Bill Hall, Bill Ricks, Bill Murray; sister-in-law, Lynda Hofen.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Living Center of Woodward with the funeral home accepting the contributions.

The family would like to thank Grace Living Center and Faith Hospice for taking such good care of Leveta the last two years.
