Jose Luis "Joe" Mata, 50 year old Woodward resident, died Friday, April 1, 2016 in the Integris Hospital in Edmond. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2016 in the St. Peter Catholic Church with the Reverend Joe Arledge officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. A Prayer Vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2016 at St. Peter Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Jose Luis Mata was born on July 14, 1965 in McAllen, Texas to Angel and Margarita Puente Mata. Jose grew up and attended school in Paducah, Texas. Joe graduated from Paducah High School. He was united in marriage to Pauline Davis on November 12, 2009 in Ellis County, Oklahoma. They made their home in Woodward. Joe worked for Crystal Wood Village and the Domino Quick Stop for a period of time.
He was a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church. Joe loved his church, his family, and his friends.
He is survived by his wife Pauline Mata of the home; one son, Landrin Mata; two daughters, Dainnele Doherty and Jillian Mata; his father, Angel Mata, Sr. of Pampa, Texas; six brothers, Peter Mata of Pampa, Texas, Angel Mata, Jr. of Pampa, Texas, Juan Mata and wife Kimberly of Missouri, Tacho Mata from Woodward, Gabriel Ramos of Texas, Mario Mata of Texas; four sisters, Irma Sanchez and husband Israel of Woodward, Nancy Rodriguez and husband Robert of Woodward, Maricella Mata of Texas, Gwen Mata of Texas; 32 nieces and nephews from Texas, Woodward and Florida; also special friends that he considered family.
He was preceded in death by his mother Margarita Mata and his grandmother Guillerma Guerreo.
