Jimmie's Story

Jimmie Taylor, 67 year old Woodward resident died Monday January 18, 2016 in the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 22, 2016 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Larry White officiating. Private family interment will be held at a later date. Jimmie Lee Taylor was born on January 31, 1948 in Alva, Oklahoma the son of Eldon Toman and Viola May (Roach) Taylor. Jimmie moved with his family at a young age to Woodward. He spent his childhood in Woodward and attended Woodward schools. Jimmie was drafted into the United States Army serving his country during the Vietnam Conflict. After his return home he was united in marriage to Barbara Vaughn in Woodward. Jimmie and Barbara made their home in Woodward and to this union three daughters were born, Michelle; Loretta; and Becky. Jimmie worked in the oilfield for short time before going to work for the W.R. Grace now C.F. Industries. Jimmie was injured in a work related accident in the late 1980's and was forced to retire shortly after. Jimmie enjoyed horses, raising cocker spaniel dogs, restoring antique cars, and watching football. Jimmie is survived by his three daughters, Michelle Hudson and husband Jody of Sayre; Loretta Wynn and husband Lige of Bella Vista, AR; Becky Sager and husband Joseph of Woodward; six grandchildren, Curtis; Carrie; Cody; Brittany; Ashlon; and Rebecca; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Stephens; Sandra Lane and husband Gene all of Woodward; other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, George Taylor, one sister, Sharon Kaye Taylor. Remembrances may be shared online at www.billingsfuneralhomewoodward.com
