Janice “Doreene” Dee Armstrong, 79 year old former Woodward area resident, died Monday, January 5, 2015 at the Community Health Center in Wakita. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. A private family graveside will be held prior to the funeral. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Janice Doreene (Feerer) Armstrong was born on March 16, 1935 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to Leslie Woodrow and Edna Gwendolyn (Foale) Feerer. She grew up on the family farm between Woodward and Fargo and attended the Tangier schools, graduating from Tangier High School in 1953. Doreene was united in marriage to William Ralph Hunter, Jr. and to this union they were blessed with three children, Leslie Anne, Jeri Maree, and William Ralph III. She was later married to Eugene Roland Hardesty, Jr. and they were blessed with one son, Eugene Roland “Trey” Hardesty III. Doreene retired from Cleo Wrap Company as a Cost Accountant. She moved to Wakita in 2009 to be near her daughter, Anne. Doreene attended church and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, fishing and gardening. She is survived by one daughter, Leslie Anne Burgess and husband Kirk of Wakita; two sons, Bill Hunter and wife Linda of Woodward, Eugene Roland “Trey” Hardesty and wife Brenda of Valparaiso, Indiana; one brother Jim Feerer and wife Wanda of Woodward; 15 grandchildren, Robert Lee Parker and wife Teekay, Austin William Burgess and wife Julia, Tyler Wade Burgess and wife Natile, Devin Marie Skaggs, Philip Logan Skaggs, Lindsay Marie Haigh, Heather Kathryn Hunter, Brittani Linn Frazier, Megan Kathleen Snyder and husband Chris, Andrew Frazier and wife Amanda, Hunter Roland Hardesty, Hannah Susan Hardesty, Sarah Rachael Bollenbacher, Owen Dean Bollenbacher; 15 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter Jeri Maree in 2009. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Community Health Center of Wakita or the Ross Hospice with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
