Helen Diane Lynch was born on April 19, 1940 to Calvin Gideon McMindes and Katherine Mae Hall McMindes in Quanah, Texas. Helen attended Eldorado Schools in Eldorado, Oklahoma where she was valedictorian of her Junior High Class and her Senior High Class. She played basketball and showed steers and sheep in 4-H. She graduated High School in 1958.
Helen continued her education at Oklahoma State University and Northwestern Oklahoma State University. She graduated from Oklahoma State University in May of 1962. Helen taught first grade in Woodward, Oklahoma for 40 years, from 1962-2002. Helen met Charles Ray Lynch on a blind date and they got married in Eldorado, Oklahoma on August 27, 1960. Charles Rowland Lynch, her only child, was born August 14, 1961.
In 1962, after graduation, Helen, Ray and Charles made their home in Woodward, Oklahoma.
Helen served as President of the Woodward Education Association; President of the Kappa Kappa Iota Association; Treasurer of the Tuesday Morning Bible Study; Treasurer of the Sarah Circle; Treasurer of P.E.O. and a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha.
Helen loved her son, family and friends. She loved playing bridge with her friends and spent many hours working at her church.
Helen is survived by her son, Charles Rowland Lynch and wife Vicki of Woodward, Oklahoma; one sister: Martha Young and husband Dick of San Bernardino, California; two grandchildren: Cyndi Giacomo and husband Chad of Woodward, Oklahoma and Lyndi Stamback and husband Robert of Kathleen, Georgia; five great-grandchildren: Shelby Lynne Stamback, Brett Alan Stamback, Zachary Ryan Stamback of Kathleen, Georgia and Emilly Renee Giacomo and Matthew Troy Giacomo of Woodward, Oklahoma; three nephews: Trent Lynch and wife Barb and children Audrey, Kayla, and Austin of Mesa, Arizona; Michael Lynch and children Shelby, Brandon and Brycen of Gilbert, Arizona; David Young and wife Lyn and children Terra Fay Richardson of Longmont, Colorado and David Michael Young of Nancy, Kentucky; one niece: Diane Larson and husband Jeffrey of San Bernardino, California and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Lynch; her parents, Calvin and Katherine McMindes; her mother and father-in-law, Harry and May Lynch; her brother-in-law Don Lynch and his wife Betty Lynch.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodward First United Methodist Church with the funeral home accepting the donations.
