Gerry's Story

Gerry N. Ford, 77 year old Woodward resident, passed away Friday, November 17, 2017 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2017 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tony Barros officiating. Burial will follow in the Mooreland Cemetery.

Gerry Neil Ford was born on April 23, 1940 in Mooreland, Oklahoma to Olen Porter Happy and Lena (Harris) Ford. The family lived in Cedardale, Oklahoma before moving to Mooreland in 1957. Gerry attended Mooreland schools and graduated from Mooreland High School in 1958. He was united in marriage to Janice Eatinger and to this union three children were born.

He went to work for Northwestern Electric on November 9, 1959 and continued working there for 46 years, retiring on November 15, 2005.

Gerry enjoyed pitching horseshoes, gardening, woodworking, ham radio, and spending time on his extensive barbed wire collection. He loved being with his family and watching every OU, OSU, and Oklahoma City Thunder games. He loved visiting with family, friends or anyone he met. He had recently enjoyed putting puzzles together.

He is survived by two sons: Barry Ford and wife Terri of Woodward, Troy Ford and wife Terry of Sayre, Oklahoma; one daughter, Melony Slife of Sayre, Oklahoma; five grandchildren: Adam Ford and wife Lynsey of Norman, Bryce Ford of Woodward, Madison Kennedy and husband Jonathan of Lindsey, Tayler Ford of Sayre, Bo Slife of Sayre; two great-grandchildren, Blaine and Kennedy Ford of Woodward; one sister, Janice Comly and husband Dick of Hatboro, Pennsylvania; brother-in-law, Raymond Fuqua of Enid; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Jean Fuqua of Enid and one brother Keith Ford of Mooreland.

The family would like to acknowledge Alma Blow and staff at Providence Place for their exceptional care and generosity over the past seven years.
