Gerald West Thomas was born February 20, 1928 in Sharon, Oklahoma to Perry Jay and Frances Anna (West) Thomas. Gerald grew up on the family homestead south west of Sharon, Oklahoma. He attended school there and graduated from Sharon High School in 1946. He hitchhiked his way to Norman and attended the University of Oklahoma, receiving his Bachelors degree in 1950. He attended the University of Oklahoma Law School and graduated with his Juris Doctorate in 1953. After his graduation, Gerald moved to Shattuck and started his Law career at a local law firm before serving as a County Prosecutor. He later moved his practice to Mooreland and he remained there the remainder of his career.

He was united in marriage and from this union they were blessed with three sons, Glen David, Perry Jay, and Joseph Michael. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy and he loved spending time with them.

Gerald was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a 60 year member of the Oklahoma Bar Association and was a long time season ticket holder at the University of Oklahoma. He loved the game of football and at OU games he could be heard cheering Hit them Harder or Get that Football. Most of all Gerald was a family man and his family was his top priority.

He is survived by two sons: Perry Jay Thomas of Mooreland, Joseph Michael Thomas and wife Julie of Shattuck; two grandchildren, Aiden Michael Thomas and Jenna Beth Thomas of Shattuck; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Glen David Thomas, three siblings, Tech Sergeant Perry Jim Thomas, Francis Argene McDowell, and Marianna Elaine Jackie Churchill.
