Francis M. Main, 88 year old Woodward resident, died Friday, January 15, 2016 at the Clinton VA Center in Clinton, Oklahoma. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Vonton Cemetery, south of Woodward. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the United States Army. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home. Francis Marion Main was born on October 6, 1927 in Alva, Oklahoma to Robert and Myrtle Mae (Crites) Main. Francis was inducted into the United States Army in 1947 and served his country in Korea and Japan until 1951 before he went to Germany. He received numerous commendations, including three Bronze Stars in 1951. Francis was honorably discharged in 1962. He moved to Woodward in 1972 and worked in the Oilfield business as a Tool Pusher. Francis retired in 1990 and continued living in Woodward. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church. Francis was always at the Polly Anna Café, they were like family to him.
