Edward's Story

Edward Lee Stanley was born Feb. 2, 1952 in Lovington, N. M. and passed away on Dec. 29, 2015. He was predeceased by his parents Clarence Stanley and Wanda Atkinson Stanley, nicknamed Doll. He and his twin Margaret were born prematurely and remained in the hospital for a time before joining the rest of the family at home. At the age of four, the family moved to Ralls, Texas so his father could begin farming on the family farm. At age 10, the family bought a farm at Kress, Texas where Edward and his twin sister graduated from Kress High School in 1970. He attended West Texas State University after high school. Edward was employed with Amoco Oil Company for 18 years, then employed with Altura Energy Company for 7 years and last employed with Occidental Energy Company for 5 years. He retired in 2002, but continued to work as a private consultant for Occidental Energy Company for several years after retirement. He married the love of his life, Kathy Walton, on Dec. 15, 1972 in Tulia, Texas. They resided mostly in Levelland, Texas until retirement. They have since resided in Gage, Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife and soulmate of 42 years, Kathy, and his children Twyla Spinelli of Levelland, Texas and Josh Stanley of Woodward, Oklahoma and grandchildren Kayla Meyer, Keagan Meyer, Blaine Stanley, Savana Spinelli, McKensi Spinelli, Kyler Meyer and Jace Stanley. He is also survived by his sisters; Brenda Sweet of San Antonio, Texas; Linda Kay Evans of Lubbock, Texas; Nancy Standifer of Hico, Texas; and his twin sister Margaret Loafman of Levelland, Texas, and brother Randy Stanley of Dumas, Texas as well has 19 nieces and 20 nephews. He was predeceased and is survived by too many other family and friends to mention them all. He is also survived by their beloved companion and pet, Pepper Stanley. Services for Edward Stanley will be held on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Gage, Oklahoma from Highway 15 on Irving and School street (just west of the Gage school) Dinner following services for family and friends Any flowers delivered should be delivered on the morning of the services at the church
