Donald Ray Sander was born September 1, 1936 to Walter J. and Maggie M. (Arthaud) Sander at their home in Seiling, Oklahoma. Donald attended school at Seiling and while he was there he was part of the band and was active in the Boy Scouts. In 1949, the family moved to a farm west of Mutual.

Donald and all of the family attended church at the Mutual Christian Church. He was a devoted Christian and was baptized at a young age. He remained faithful to the Lord until the end. While in school Donald was active in the FFA. Donald graduated from Mutual High School in 1954 and went from there to Oklahoma State University where he graduated with a degree in Soil Science in 1958. Donald worked as a roughneck during summer and Christmas vacations out in the Texas panhandle to pay for school. During college Donald was enrolled in the Navy ROTC program where he went north for Naval training at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station north of Chicago, Illinois. After training Donald served in the Navy Reserve. Since there were no bases close to where he lived his service was transferred to the National Guard where he served the remainder of his enlistment.

He sold fertilizer at the Yukon Co-op and was also a sales representative for Armor Fertilizer. After selling fertilizer, he sold cars at Howard Way Chevrolet in Fairview, Oklahoma. Donald purchased a residence in Woodward, Oklahoma in 1985 and lived there until his health forced him to move to the Clinton Nursing Home. He was then moved to the Seiling Nursing Center to be closer to his family. Donald always loved going camping, fishing, and boating and he loved to ride his motorcycle. He actively rode his motorcycle passed the age of 75. Donald was very artistic. He could draw and paint and was even good at leather work.

Donald was preceded in death by his father, mother, and his brother Elmer Joe Sander. He is survived by his brother Charles Sander, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
