Darrel R. Rieth, 74 year old Woodward resident, died Sunday, November 27, 2016 at the Grace Living Center in Woodward. A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 12, 2016 at the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Darrel Ray Rieth was born on December 11, 1941 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Fredrick Joseph and Rosie May (Fields) Rieth. He grew up in Woodward and attended school there. Darrel was united in marriage to Sharon Morris in Wichita, Kansas. They were blessed with two children, Rick and Dennis. While living in Wichita, Darrel worked for the Kansas Gas and Electric and the Santa Fe Railroad. He later moved to the Houston, Texas area and he worked at a marina there working on fishing boats. He loved doing that work but his health forced him to retire.
He was a member of the Catholic church. He loved hunting and fishing while he was able. Darrel moved to Woodward to be closer to his family.
He is survived by his mother, Rosie May Rieth of Woodward; two sons: Rick Rieth of Violia, Kansas, Dennis Rieth of Derby, Kansas; three brothers: Dean Rieth, David Rieth and wife Judy, Dan Rieth and wife Mary, Dewight Rieth, all of Woodward; one sister Donnetta Moore and husband Darrell of Pittsburgh, Kansas; three grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Darrel was preceded in death by his father, Fredrick Joseph Rieth.
