Christine  Persons


Christine Persons, 91 year old Woodward resident, passed away Friday, July 12, 2019 at her home in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, Lincoln Campus with Reverend Jason Dirks officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Christine was born on November 8, 1927 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Jack William and Ella Francis Poage Braley. Christine grew up in Woodward and attended Woodward schools, graduating from Woodward High School. After Ralph Persons came home from the war, he went on a blind date with a young girl he called (Boots). Christine (Boots) and Ralph were united in marriage on March 17, 1947 in Woodward. They made their home in Woodward and were blessed with three children, Dick, Danny, and Nancy. She was a stay at home mom and enjoyed raising her children. She was also Ralphs driving partner when he checked the cattle.

Christine was a charter member of the Crown Heights Baptist Church and she was currently attending Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church. She could make the best fried chicken and could make anything from homemade ice cream to chili. She loved OU football, basketball, softball, and the OKC Thunder. She was always the loudest person in the room when these teams played. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, whom she loved very much.

She is survived by one son, Danny Persons and wife Marlyn of Woodward; one daughter, Nancy Meyer of Fargo; daughter-in-law, Jeannie Persons of Woodward; four grandchildren, Heidi Woodmansee and husband Adrian of Woodward, Heath Persons and wife Kelli of Mooreland, Haley Persons of Woodward, and Sarah Persons of Woodward; 11 great-grandchildren, Chandler Persons, Easton Persons, Hudson Persons, Jordan Persons, Lennon Persons, Mackenzie Persons, Maycie Coulson, Kooper Coulson, Parker Brown, Hayden Brown, Hannah Brown, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ralph Persons, son Dick Persons, grandson Ryan Persons, brothers Jack Braley and wife Pauline, Bill Braley and wife Laura, and son-in-law, Randy Meyer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Fund with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
