Calvin's Story

Calvin Henry Cook, 71 of Woodward, OK, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 3, 2016. He was born to Joe Henry Cook and Doris Maxine Cook in Watonga, OK on August 12, 1944. They eventually moved to Woodward, where he graduated from Woodward High School in 1962.
After graduating high school, he entered the United States Army where he served for six years and went to Korea and Vietnam. After his discharge, he then came home to the love of his life, Fran Walker and they were married February 18, 1967.
From this union of Calvin and Fran two children were born, Toni(Reggie)Cotton, Muskogee, OK; Brett(Kelly)Cook, Norman, OK. His children provided pure joy by giving him five grandchildren. Three from Toni; Stormy, Isaiah and Jordyn; two from Brett; Max and Carly.
They moved to Okmulgee, OK where he went to Oklahoma State Tech and graduated from the Diesel Mechanics program in 1969. They moved to Enid, OK and eventually moved back to Woodward where they made their home of 49 yrs. He worked as a diesel mechanic and was working for Unit Drilling at the time of his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe H. Cook and Doris M. Cook and sister Brenda Cook
Calvin leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, children, grandchildren, one sister Linda (Farest)Humphrey, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who all loved him.
A memorial service will be held at Crown Heights Baptist Church in Woodward on Saturday, March 19th at 1:00 pm.
