C. A. Johnson, 91 year old resident of Enid and former resident of Woodward, died Monday, December 14, 2015 in Enid. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2015 in the First Assembly of God Church in Woodward with the Reverend Donnetta Hunter and the Reverend Randy Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in the Mooreland Cemetery with services under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home. Military Graveside rites will be conducted by the United States Air Force. C. A. was born June 23, 1924 on a farm near Luther, Oklahoma. The family moved to Guthrie at an early age and he attended all grades at Guthrie. C. A. graduated in 1943 from Guthrie High School and was drafted into the Army during the war. He transferred to the Army Air Corp where he was based in England and flew nine missions over Germany. He had an honorable discharge in December of 1946 and re-enlisted in the Air Force in 1949. C. A. served in Tripoli North Africa until 1950. He was transferred to Tinker Air Force Base working there until 1951. He then worked at Tinker from 1951 until 1956 in Civil Service. C. A. transferred to Civil Aeronautics in 1956. He moved to Woodward and worked at Gage Airport at Airport Traffic Control until 1958 and was transferred to Columbus, Georgia. He worked at the control tower in Georgia for ten years. In 1968, he was transferred to Hobbs, New Mexico also at control tower. In 1971, he moved to Ft. Worth, Texas working at Flight Service Station (FSS). C. A. Retired on November 1, 1985. He served 40 years and 8 months with service to the federal government. In 2003, C.A. was ordained a minister at Open Heart Ministries Church in Cleburne, Texas. In 2005, following the death of his wife, and for health reasons, he moved to Mooreland and lived with his daughter Barbara. In 2010, C. A. moved to Woodward and was married to Alice Heusel. At the time of his death, they were living at a retirement home in Enid, living there since 2013. Survivors include his wife, Alice of the home; daughter Barbara Summerall and husband Steve; son-in-law Harvey Rutherford and wife LaNette; grandchildren, Brenda Jean Barby, Aaron Kent Rutherford, Kimberley Renee Barnett, Valerie Diane Barnett and Sean Michael Summerall; nine great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; two nieces; two nephews; several cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, C. A. and Mary Johnson and one daughter, Shirley Jean Rutherford; twin sister Clarice Hatch and sister Juanita Heatherley and his wife LaVon Johnson.
