Bill Logan, 83 year old Woodward resident, died Wednesday, August 10, 2016 in Woodward. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016 in the Elmwood Cemetery with the Reverend Tim Mascarenas officiating. Burial will follow with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Billie Joe Logan was born at 4:00 a.m. April 23, 1933 to Tess and Claudia Logan in Ninnekah, Oklahoma. With the help of her parents and brothers, Claudia raised her only child; her pride and joy. Claudia later married Bill's step-dad, Paul Anthony. Bill worked a variety of jobs until he entered the United States Army during the Korean Conflict where he served in Germany from 1953 to 1956. After his discharge he met the love of his life and soul mate, Jean Wilson. They met while working at the Greyhound Bus Sation in Oklahoma City. On November 26, 1956, they went to Stockton, Kansas to marry. From then on they were seldom apart. Bill started work in the oilfield and in 1966 the family moved to Woodward, Oklahoma. In addition to working full time he used his entrepreneurial skills to start "The Specialty Company." He repaired Air valves, braided tow ropes and handcrafted pen and pencil sets from horns and exotic woods.

Bill and Jean were founding members of Elm Street Baptist Church where they spent many years attending and serving. Bill and family always explored new locations across the United States on their yearly vacations. He spent time with his kids, Marty in Boy Scouts, and Sherwana, as a Rainbow dad. He showed his love for God and family be teaching a plethora of skills and work ethic. He never met a stranger, and was always willing to help family, friends, neighbors, and anyone else in need. After retirement he and Jean spent many summers in Colorado. They created the tradition of the grandkids joining them for a week or two each summer. The only rule was that they had to be potty trained before they could join them. With five grandkids in a six year time span there was a lot of planning, practice, and patience needed on these yearly adventures. The grandkids cherish the special memories and often reminisce about those times.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years Jean; his son Marty and Debbie Logan, his daughter, Sherwana and Terry Gathers; five grandchildren Cherice and Jared Fox and their children Rylynn and Rustyn, Marissa and Shamar Malone, Jake and Kristen Logan, Danielle Logan, and Chantz Gathers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter-in-law, Deidre Logan.
