Anita's Story

Anita M. Schickedanz, 79 year old resident of Fargo, died Sunday, July 3, 2016 at her home. Funeral services will be held at the Fargo Gymnasium on Friday, July 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with the Reverend Ronnie Wanger officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Anita Marie (Brown) Schickedanz was born June 18, 1937 in Shattuck, Oklahoma; she was the daughter of John Marvin and Veda Marie (Thomas) Brown. She grew up in Fargo, attended Fargo schools and graduated from Fargo High School. On February 4, 1954, Anita was married to Thaine August Schickedanz in the Woodward Presbyterian Church. They made their home on a farm south of Fargo. They also lived in Medicine Lodge, Kansas for a short time and spent two years in Stinnett, Texas before moving back to Fargo and living there the remainder of her life. Anita worked at Morehart's Grocery Store; sold Avon; served as a clerk at auctions; and worked for Stage Department Store for 20 years, retiring in 2014.

She enjoyed her grandchildren's sporting events; Thunder basketball; doll collecting; quilting; sewing doll clothes. Anita was a member of the Friendship Quilters Guild of Woodward. Most of all, Anita enjoyed her family and friends; her sewing and quilting; grandchildren's activities and nothing made her happier than finding an old doll at a sale and bringing it home and restoring it like new again.

She is survived by her husband, Thaine Schickedanz of the home; three daughters, Monica Schickedanz of Amarillo, Texas; Thana McLeod and husband Jeff of Flower Mound, Texas; Kathy Jones and husband Steve of Woodward; one brother, Jerry Brown and wife Jennie of Pampa, Texas; six grandchildren Danni Hixson and husband Scotty; Geronica Tucker and husband Ben Gray; Taos Jones and wife Jackie; Gerald Tucker and wife Draya; Faith McLeod; Caleb McLeod; 12 great grandchildren, Jaquon Tucker; Jayben Gray; Berkli Tucker; Molli Tucker; Sophie Tucker; Sloane Tucker; Dallas Price; Dusty Price; Kade Jones; Kale Jones and Kamryn Jones.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Veda Brown, one great granddaughter, Trinity Jones and one great grandson, Damron Price.

Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Cancer Research with the funeral home accepting the memorials on behalf of the family.
